What is a femboy? Identity, expression and respect

Femboy describes a feminine form of expression. It does not determine a person's gender identity or sexual orientation.

A simple definition

Femboy is a term some people use for a feminine presentation that does not, by itself, define their gender. Clothing, makeup, hair and mannerisms may be part of that expression. It works best as a self-description and should never be imposed based on appearance.

There is no single way to be a femboy. Cis, trans and non-binary people may use the term, permanently or only in relation to a particular aesthetic.

02

Expression is not identity

Gender expression is how someone presents to the world; gender identity is their internal understanding of who they are. A feminine appearance does not automatically make someone a woman.

Appearance also cannot reveal pronouns or sexual orientation. When relevant, ask respectfully and accept the answer.

03

Respect in practice

Treat each person as an individual rather than a curiosity or fantasy. Respect becomes visible in consistent, everyday choices.

  • Use the name and pronouns the person provides.
  • Do not ask intimate questions without consent.
  • Do not assume sexual availability from clothing or aesthetics.
  • Correct mistakes briefly and move forward.
04

Expression can create belonging

Finding words and community can reduce isolation. Feminine and masculine expression do not have to work as closed boxes.

At CorvinNoir, femboy aesthetics meet androgyny, non-binary experience and independent creation—without defining a rule for anyone else.
